What I Once Believed

Written 1994

Verse 1:
I'm wandering through this wonderland of things I once believed
watching all the simple forms I somehow feel relieved
my lies we so transparent at least the ones that I could see
the ripples were much fewer on the placid waters of what I once believed

Verse 2:
I always thought my dad was such a wonderful guy
he only hit me now and then I never did know why
my conscience was much lighter before this truthfulness was freed
leaves were always covering the hidden waters of what I once believed
what I once believed

Bridge:
I wouldn't go back but it's nice to fantasize some old pictures are
like heaven
but still others show the sadness in their eyes
